Noisy neighbours in adjoining rooms - soundproofing not great. We heard a radio or television all night
Arrived on a Thursday but could not sleep due to a wedding reception in main hall creating such a noise in my room. Was then moved to the third floor for Friday and Saturday when another two wedding receptions disturbed my sleep especially when drunk guests returned to their rooms in the early hours of the morning. Hotel said that they would have warned me of the weddings had I booked direct. Not an acceptable excuse for me. This is not the place to stay if you are not part of the wedding.
Place is tired, worn out and run down. Desperately in need of a refurb.
Wifi was not available for most of our stay and the wrong room was allocated initially.
We found that the facilities for guests were comfortable, spacious and well furnished. Service was helpful, cheerful, and friendly. food was excellent, and the hotel has an enviable location in view of its country aspect, and quietness.

restaraunt staff rude. many issues need adressing here. standard rooms vary basic. superior room lovely but shower and tv did not work in the room we stayed in, some people were charged twice for their stay!
The room's facilities, a nice size bathroom and an excellent bed. The bar and dining room ambience/decor are most attractive.

Nice location and the hotel is being rennovated to a high standard. Very plush dining area.The room was pleasant and for the price paid was excellent value.
Reception is hidden by the side of the stairs so the staff cannot greet the guests. The evening meal was delivered swiftly and efficiently however the breakfast was not to the same standard. Seemed understaffed e.g. no one to greet and show to table. No offer of tea/coffee until requested and then this was served from a thermos and was obviously stewed. Toast arrived at table cold. We had noted other guests have commented on this in other reviews so the management should pay heed. I would rather have paid more and had good breakfast service and for this reason we would not return.
dinner was really good, cooked breakfast good. bar staff good. waitresses tried hard and were good. foyer and ground floor nice and attractive.
